Paradise Textiles investing US $102mn in Egyptian integrated fabric manufacturing facility

Alpine Group company Paradise Textiles is setting up a US $102 million integrated fabric manufacturing facility in Alexandria’s Amreya Public Free Zone in Egypt named Alex Apparels and is expected to create new 1,200 jobs.

This plant will deploy the latest environmentally friendly technologies which will help reduce environmental impact and encourage sustainability and is also the first of its kind project in the Middle East which will have a LEED certification.

The Alex Apparels facility will manufacture high-performance polyester knitted fabrics primarily for activewear and sportswear for exports to the US market. Located next to Alpine Group’s existing garment manufacturing hub, the new plant will bring fabric manufacturing closer to garment production.

Of the total US $102 million investment, US $72 million will be financed by Commercial International Bank-Egypt in three tranches. The bank has already released the first tranche of US $35.5 million, with more funding scheduled and linked with construction milestones.

The project aims to reduce environmental impact and so will install lower-environmental impact production technologies and systems aimed at reducing water and energy usage. The Amreya Public Free Zone provides duty-advantaged access to the United States market through the Qualifying Industrial Zones agreement, while also being closer to countries of the European Union.
